Electrical & Instrumentation Installation in Hazardous Areas

Introduction :

Intact Electrical & Instrumentation Installation in Hazardous Areas is critical in any industrial plant. Hazardous areas exist in many industrial and commercial facilities where process information is gathered using sensors, switches, and manually operated controls. Hazardous conditions can exist during routine daily operations due to the release of flammable materials into the atmosphere. Releases can occur due to leaks at valves and pipe flanges, from routine maintenance where a seal is being replaced, or where a process results in the regular escape of gases and vapours. Many occupations and workers employed in this industry sector are affected by the safety requirements for working in hazardous locations. This Electrical & Instrumentation Installation in Hazardous Areas course is designed to provide the participant with an understanding of the characteristics of flammable materials, classification of hazardous locations, types of equipment used in hazardous locations, typical wiring systems, and inspection and maintenance guidelines. You will learn the approaches and methodologies used to classify hazardous areas using standards/codes and hazard quantification techniques. It will cover the selection methods of the electrical equipment and type of protection in a hazardous area and the installation, inspection, and maintenance requirements.

Course Objectives :

At the end of this course, the participants will be able to :

  • Learn how to easily determine equipment requirements for hazardous locations
  • Understand recommended protection methods for hazardous area installations
  • Become familiar with standardized area classifications
  • Acquire working knowledge for conducting installations and Division systems based on area classifications
  • Gain an understanding of hazardous area classifications and increase understanding of wiring methods and sealing in combustible gas, dust, and fiber areas
  • Develop knowledge of IECEx, ATEX, North American, and other certification schemes
  • Prepare For Compex Test (EX01, EX02, EX03 & EX04)
